Numerica Tree Lighting Celebration: The Night Spokane Shines Brightest

A Tradition That Marks the True Start of the Season
There’s something breathtaking about the way Spokane steps into the holiday season, and no event captures that magic better than the Numerica Tree Lighting Celebration. Every year, families, friends and neighbors fill Riverfront Spokane with excitement as the city comes together for an evening that feels lifted straight out of a holiday movie.
A Holiday Village Comes to Life at Riverfront Spokane
On November 29th, the tradition continues. From 4 to 7 in the evening, the plaza beside the Numerica Skate Ribbon transforms into a vibrant holiday village. As the sun sets and the sky deepens, the sounds of live musical performances begin to carry through the park. Local entertainers bring the atmosphere to life with festive favorites, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable night.

Seasonal Treats, Hot Cocoa and Family Activities
Food trucks arrive early, offering comforting seasonal treats that pair perfectly with the crisp November air. Warm cinnamon pastries, fresh kettle corn, savory bites and hot cocoa that instantly heats your hands and your spirits. Kids laugh as they run through the plaza, families pose for photos and the skate ribbon fills with people gliding under string lights that shimmer above the ice.
A Community Gathering Filled With Joy and Anticipation
The beauty of this event is how it brings the community together in ways that feel both simple and spectacular. Parents lift toddlers onto their shoulders for a better view. Couples hold hands as they walk toward the tree. Teens gather with friends, taking photos as they wait for the countdown. Everyone pauses for a shared moment of anticipation, creating memories that stick long after the season ends.

The Moment the Tree Bursts Into Light
At 6 p.m., the crowd begins to quiet. The emcee leads the countdown. The final numbers echo through the plaza. Then the tree bursts into light, thousands of twinkling bulbs dancing upward until the entire park glows. For a few seconds, the whole crowd lights up too. Smiles. Cheers. A collective welcome into a season full of gratitude, celebration and warmth.
Holiday Magic That’s Open to Everyone
What makes the Numerica Tree Lighting Celebration so special is that it costs nothing to attend. No tickets. No barriers. Just a free, open invitation for the entire Spokane community to join in the holiday spirit. It’s one of the rare events that feels small-town nostalgic and citywide grand at the same time, making it a must-attend moment each year.
