Over the past 7 days, we hosted two open houses, one on Friday and another on Saturday, with a total of five groups coming through. Friday's open house brought three groups: a mortgage broker, a local neighbor we've spoken with previously who was looking at comparable homes in the area, and a potential buyer who is currently renting on the South Hill and was exploring neighborhoods on the North Side. Saturday's open house had two additional visitors, including a neighbor who stopped in while out walking and a young gentleman who is planning to relocate from Missoula to Spokane. We did not receive any negative feedback from either open house, and the overall comments about the home were very positive. We also have one private showing scheduled for today, which we're hopeful will generate additional feedback or interest. We'll continue monitoring buyer activity closely and keep you updated on any new developments or feedback we receive.
This past week, economic data showed that inflation ticked higher in May, reaching its highest level in nearly three years. While higher inflation can keep pressure on borrowing costs, declining oil prices may help ease some inflationary pressures in the months ahead, which could provide a more favorable environment for buyers over time. Mortgage rates continue to fluctuate as markets react to these economic indicators, and many buyers remain careful and deliberate in their purchasing decisions.
On the housing side, new home sales declined to their second-lowest level in nearly four years, reflecting the cautious pace we're seeing across many segments of the market. Buyers are still active, but they're taking more time to evaluate properties, compare options, and ensure they're receiving strong value before making an offer. We'll continue monitoring both local market trends and broader economic conditions closely and will keep you informed of any developments that could impact your home's position in the market.
